Since its introduction sometime in the 1950's the Fender Duo Sonic has been the guitar of misfits everywhere, the guitar of, and the unsung hero of, the underground. David Byrne, Liz Phair, Rory Gallagher and even the inimitable Jimi Hendrix all played Duo Sonic's at some point in their careers.
Fender have (FINALLY, in some people's thinking!) given the Duo Sonic a make-over in 2016. They've given it the best of modern technology, while keeping the soul of the guitar right where it should be.
The single coil version comes with the small headstock, 9.5" radius maple neck, with 22 medium jumbo frets all in a 24" scale. Loaded with Duo Sonic single coils with medium output, giving you tons of sparkle and warmth.
The HS version is loaded with a splitable Duo Sonic humbucker in the bridge position, with the tap in the tone control. This one has the same neck dimensions, but comes with a Rosewood fretboard.
Both versions come with a string through body, strat syle hard tail bridge, with bent steel saddles and rock solid intonation. The controls are a master volume and tone, with a three way selector switch
The shorter scale and 'C' shaped neck make it a great beginner's guitar - In fact, that's what it was originally designed for - but it also makes it an incredible guitar for singer/guitarists that need to find their way around the comfortable neck without always checking where their hands are. It also allows for some blinding shred word, as the guitar easily becomes part of what you're playing. It's an exceptionally comfortable shape that let's you forget it's there.
Fender have given it a set of new clothes, to match the new appointments - The HS comes in Black, Daphne Blue and a lightly pearled Surf Green. The single coil version comes in Torino Red, Aged White and a stunning Capri Orange.
