The G&L Legacy is appropriately named. It could be argued that Leo’s design is the ultimate electric guitar shape. At the very least it would be in the top two, on anyone’s list!
The Legacy’s design is derived from S-Style models from the 50’s and 60’s – certainly the healthy weight and feel of the body is a lot more solid. With appointments that bring it up to date, it’s a more modern heritage.
The satin finish neck is superbly comfortable, what G&L describe as Modern Classic. It’s a
1 11/16” nut width with 1 5/8” string spacing allowing a generous, comfortable edge roll without string fall-off. It is pretty slim with a mild taper. Loaded up with 22, Medium-Jumbo nickel-silver frets, it really does give a slinky feel when playing.
The Paul Gagon designed CLF-100 single coils come from his extensive research into what made “holy grail” guitars so unique. His work resulted in rave reviews from both players and magazines like Guitar Player and Guitar World. Full of mojo, the Alnico V pickups have an unmistakable chime and quack reminiscent of the best examples from the late ‘50s.
The Leo Fender-designed, Dual-Fulcrum vibrato, is a great piece of modern engineering work, allowing you to bend up or down without losing stability. It feels solid and fluid. The forged brass saddles add even more resonance.
Another feature bringing this nod to the past into the future, is Leo’s PTB™ (Passive Treble & Bass) system, functioning on all three pickups just adding to the already huge tonal versatility.
Full of Leo’s (And therefore, let’s face it, the electric guitar’s) spirit, the G&L Legacy Series is all honest Alnico tone, with updated, more modern features where needed.
