In the early 2000’s, G&L offered the G&L Tribute Series as an affordable alternative to the instruments built here in the USA. Originally, the G&L Tribute guitars were built by Cort Guitars in Korea, using foreign-made hardware, with the exception of a handful of select models. All of the pickups are still being made by G&L in Fullerton, California. Production has since been moved to Indonesia.
Many of the models and body shapes you know and love from G&L are available in the Tribute Series, all at an affordable price point. But more than a straight up, lower quality instrument, these overseas-built instruments are highly curated. Each guitar is built and then shipped to California, where G&L technicians fully inspect and set up the guitars. Anything that does not live up to the G&L name, will not hit the street. The electronics in each of the Tribute guitars is the exact same as in the USA built models. All of the hardware and guitar designs are built to the same, original specifications.
You might lose out on having a hardshell case, like the USA models, but the gigbag is by no means “cheap”. Where it counts, there’s no compromise – All specs are 100% G&L and the electronics are exactly the same as on the US models. In fact the Tribute is 100% G&L… except for the price!
