The Sterling Stingray guitar is a beautiful look back at the original Fender Music Man guitar design that built the entire Music Man brand. With a simple double cutaway design, dual humbucker pickups and a vintage tremolo system this guitar mixes the best of both the S and Single cutaway guitars of the 50's and 60's and loads it all in to one guitar.
While the look is very classic S type in its own funky way the Stingray still feels like its own instrument. This comes from the neck which has a rather flat 12" Radius fretboard and a quite close string spacing that Music Man players will instantly recognise. In a way this is an astonishing in-between point of those traditional 50's guitars and a more ergonomic, modern design. The humbuckers on this guitar were designed by Music Man to deliver a traditional humbucker tone in a lighter and more ergonomic shape than the inspiration. These things sound great with plenty of warm low end and a mid-gain output that suit rock, pop and blues styles.
The StingRay SR50 harkens back to the first, original Fender Music Man guitar design, now reimagined and updated by the Ernie Ball Music Man design team. It features 2 creamy Ernie Ball Music Man spec humbuckers, Vintage Tremolo, and an oversized 4 + 2 headstock with locking tuning machines.
